Sometimes you take a hit!
Sometimes you take a hit and you just gotta get up again. But hey, “I don’t feel like it; sometimes the blows are too hard, I no sooner get up and BOOM, I'm down again.” Then what? I think I have written previously about life throwing curve balls - I call them “every-which-way” balls, they come in all directions. They don’t care where you are, what you're doing, or who you're with, or what you’re planning or hoping for. They just come.
Are you prepared?
I've had a few knocks lately. It feels like you're in a boxing ring sometimes. Get ready for your fight, all prepped, got me gloves on, ready to thump my opposition! Surprise, I got thumped first, and down. Get up, BOOM. Might as well stay down.
It gets a bit that way, just stay down, don’t bother getting up. Well, the problem with that is, not much will get accomplished, especially when you've got a business to run - know what I mean? If you’re human, you will.
Sometimes it feels like everything you believe in, stand for, strive for, and pursue in life is brought into question; you feel so weak, you just can't be bothered believing, standing, striving, pursuing, let alone putting the gloves on and fighting.
Someone once said to me, “Take the first step, one foot in front of the other.” I mean, I wrote in one of my blogs: JUST DO IT! Even that became a problem, I didn’t feel like it, didn’t want to. But, there are some good reasons why - when your health takes a blow, you haven’t got much else but to stay down, rest up, recupe, regain your strength. The weather has a way of shutting you in, especially over here in winter, when its wind, rain, and frosts.
I took a step today and reminded myself, it doesn’t matter who, what, where, why, how, or even when - “If it’s got to be, it’s up to me”. It was a good first step and I feel great because of it.
I run a business
It thrives on the wellbeing of the owner - that’s me! I've said before “I am the backbone of my business, if it’s got to be, it’s up to ME!” Nobody else is going to do it. I have a team to look after, I have a family. I have the ‘gold’ of my business to care for - my customers. We all need each other if we are going to make it in this business world, in this life. I don’t think we were designed to go it completely alone, all the time; but I do believe we have to make our own decisions, not someone else’s, and not someone else’s for us. We have to decide where to from here, so what, in spite of the circumstances - a rock solid belief that says:
No matter what happens, opting out is not an option - keep moving ahead, forging ahead with every fibre of your being.
Our destiny is in our hands, not someone else’s. We choose.
Have you got your armour on?
Your armour is what protects you, it is what prepares you and equips you for those tough times ahead. We don’t know when they're coming, they just come - like a bend in the road; all you can to it turn with caution, and proceed if the way is clear. I keep coming back to: Take care of your health, its all you’ve got
. Have the confidence and assurance to deal with whatever comes your way. If you have a trusted friend or mentor to turn to, do so. If you like to walk or jog, or go to the beach, then do it. Don’t wait for the doctor to give you a jab because you've gone off track, beat him to it - get back on track and decide you’re going to do it.
The amazing thing about it all is: you can still enjoy the ride, and do the things that you love doing. It’s not all uphill, or downhill; sometimes it’s just a smooth and straight path, enjoy it while it’s there.
Enjoy being around the people that matter, enjoy taking time out, enjoy having a lazy day, enjoy the lousy weather and do something different to lighten and brighten the day.
What is your favourite pastime, or hobby, or craft? Do it.
I love knitting and crocheting, and that’s just about all I do when I am not working. Creating is a wonderful thing, and when it is for somebody else, it’s even better - just to see their faces light up at what you did, or made, for them.
Taking a hit is not so bad, just get up and get going again!
